A shot list is a strategic document that lists all the shots to be shot on a particular shooting day. It allows the director to clearly convey the vision of a film, TV series, photoshoot or commercial with DP and 1st promo. The shot list includes important details such as shot size, type, camera movement, lens and equipment requirements. A shot list is like a shopping list, getting every shot you need to tell a story.
Shot lists aren’t just for filming. You can create a list of cameras for a photo session, and if you have many cameras, you can show the photos taken by each camera.

Scene numbers are very important in your project. You sync between script, list and schedule. You can also use color labels to identify different scenes or types of shots.

Where you get your individual shots is critical to planning and organizing your shoot. It takes a lot of time to move the entire crew from one location to another, so it’s important to group the crew by location.
Setting up for each shot takes time, and timing that time accurately will make your shot as effective as possible. Meet with your department heads (eg Camera, Grip/Electrical, Advertising, etc.) so these times are accurate and agreed upon.
Based on script time, set-up time and number of shots, the shot list template automatically generates an estimated time for each shot.

Total estimate. In the Time column, you can add preparation and recording time. This allows the entire crew to know when to finish a particular shot and move on to the next one.
This gives the crew an overview of how the day is planned. If you calculate the setup and takedown time for each shot, the start time can be estimated.
You can define the end of each adjustment, so the crew knows exactly when and where each change will occur. If you have set the preparation and shooting time, the setup line will automatically calculate the entire setup time.
Tip: Setup can take as long as a day. Once the camera is set to a specific gear (or lens), shoot multiple settings with that gear before transferring.
