• MUSC initially installed parking meters along Bee Street due to limited parking spaces for patients. However, a new parking lot has been built near/on the MUSC campus. Tara is asking for help removing a parking meter between Rutledge Avenue and Ashley Avenue (one side of the street). Marion emailed SC DOT. The DOT has issued an official request to remove the parking meter.

• Motion: Bradley helps remove the parking meter and moves to turn into a two-hour parking lot on Bee Street (between Rutledge Avenue and Ashley Avenue).

• According to Marion, the mayor said the traffic control staff has been reduced by 50%. That is the reason why there is little parking in our area. The city is struggling to find workers, and wages have risen to $15 an hour.

• The committee’s mission/objectives and updates are provided to encourage participation in the committee. The committee’s scope has been expanded to include overall improvement of the neighborhood adjacent to the park (eg, exterior walkway, restaurant walkway, entrance/area, landscaping). The purpose of the committee is to promote a culture of friendship between those who visit, live and work in the CE area and to improve the social environment.

• The City Council is making new rules for night businesses in years because of the king’s problem. The updated guidelines include night security (security personnel and the number of security personnel hired as security). ID Use an ID scanner to verify your ID is valid. waste management; updating applications for restaurants; and noise regulation. This ordinance applies to facilities in the City of Charleston and Charleston County. The city is working to send ID checkers through a fund to crack down on fraudulent IDs in public buildings.

It raises questions about how the police deal with gangs and IDs for alcohol/fraud. Concerns have been raised about the police’s lack of enforcement of rules at college hall events.

Marion encourages members to contact their city councilors and mayors about changes to nighttime customs.

• This law, which is currently being developed, is intended to address the issues facing absentee landowners and our neighbors. The register must be registered in the city. Currently it is difficult to find or contact some property owners to report problems and enforce city ordinances. If the legislation passes, testing will be conducted in the Eastside and Cannonborough-Elliotborough counties.

• One of the most pressing issues in our neighborhood is informing residents what to put on the street in regards to trash/garbage/yard waste. The mayor has reported that there is a personnel issue related to trash/garbage collection. Cator Sparks has created a flyer to inform residents about garbage/trash/garbage collection rules. Availability, reporting of pubic and local violations, and general contact information for CENA leadership. CE residents are encouraged to distribute flyers in their homes.

• Cator Sparks: Can you place public trash cans on your neighbor’s street? Marion: The purpose of this season is to educate the residents about the entire trash list. We are also focusing on the local waste collection schedule.

• Concerns have been raised about cleaning storm drains. There is an Adopt-A-Drain program to help residents maintain drains (www.charleston-sc.gov/1984/Adopt-A-Drain).

Instead of a formal event, CENA will host an outdoor event at Fuel (Cannon and Rutledge’s restaurant).

6. Marion: Legally approved. You will need a corporation to get officers insurance and money. You don’t need an EIN number to get paid by the movie company ($2,000 for now). Attorney George McNair says there is no protection without a corporation.

Sally: The downside of the LLC approach is that you have to change the rules. The advantage of a non-profit corporation is the ability to change existing laws. Don’t rush.
