Preschool learning plans are based on individual learning styles, personalities and needs. A lesson plan format that works for me may not work for someone else.

Free Weekly Lesson Plan Template And Teacher Resources
The Preschool Daily Lesson Plan Template is a great format for teachers who feel the need to write down every moment of the day. These lesson plans are good practice and are often used by beginning teachers. If you’ve been teaching for a long time, it might be a good idea to go back to basics every now and then and review your lesson plans using this format.
This page has my weekly lesson plan book template that you can print and use. With this basic preschool lesson plan, you can get a bigger picture of your teaching goals and ways to help kids make progress.
As you begin writing your weekly lesson plan, be sure to explore Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences and include activities that involve multiple intelligences and diverse students. I write down which centers are open at what time of day and which centers are open during the week.
I personally like to use this kind of lesson plan format with a flip design. If you are not familiar with Understanding by Design, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with this approach. This helps us to constantly focus our teaching on the core ideas and values we are exploring with children and avoid pointless projects.

Many homeschool moms ask me how to do this, especially if you only have 1 homeschooled child. I think circle time is a great way to start a preschool day. It becomes normal and helps the child understand that this is how the school day starts. If you have kids who are homeschooled, this is a great way to do something together. Even if you have 1 child, it is recommended to do circle time.

Spring Lesson Plans For Preschool
The language arts include listening, reading, writing and speaking. For preschoolers, this means practicing the alphabet, listening skills, phonemes, vocabulary and handwriting.
Preschool math includes counting, coloring, patterning, number recognition, writing one by one, describing, sorting, graphing, money, sorting, matching, and subtitling.
I love doing experiments and hands-on activities in preschool science. Over the course of our preschool years, we usually do 1 activity in math or science.
Motor skills are important for both fine motor skills (small movements) and gross motor skills (big movements)! Developing fine motor skills will help develop the ability to hold a pencil and write by hand. We don’t do both every day, but we try.

Sensory learning is very important for preschoolers. Sensory containers are a great way to do this. You can also create sensory glasses or other activities that engage the senses.
I do an art or craft activity 3 times a week. Procedural art is an open art activity. There is no final product, just any artwork a preschooler creates!
These are the themes I’m planning. And make sure we have plenty of time to play outside, play learning games, go on field trips and read lots of books! If I plan my week around these topics, I feel more successful. (You’ll notice in the image above that we don’t have formal classes on Wednesdays. It’s up to you how many days you need to take classes. I recommend 2-4 classes a week for preschoolers.)
I’d also like to share some sample timelines for ages 2, 3, and 4-5. 2 year olds are too young for preschool so I only do 1 main activity (alphabet or math) with them. The schedule is as follows.
