Music Lessons Plan

Music Lessons Plan – Today I’m giving a brief introduction to the first day’s lesson plans, from TK – 5th grade. On the first day of music class, students should be the most cautious of the year. This puts unique pressure on the first day’s lesson plans to set the tone for the rest of our time together.

All of the patterns I use are available for purchase here as part of the Elementary Music Planner.

Teaching music in a certain way is not torture but a joy for the students

During this entire process, he did not give any verbal instructions such as “turn me now” or “translate my movements now”. I jumped right in, and saw that the students were making copies for themselves.

I started my normal warm up for the first day of school. Here’s a breakdown of it:

The first four beats of our first song were claps or body slams that we repeated, and we transitioned seamlessly into the opening act.

It’s fun to play games that students remember from last year. If you are new to a school, consider contacting your music teacher from last year. If this is not possible, choose one of the simple games or activities that you want to start. Find a song or game that will get the students motivated because the energy will be high at the beginning of the lesson.

It was my first time giving instructions in a lesson. So far, I’ve just done what I want my students to do and translate for them.

During the first month of the school year, my students were assigned a place. This is so I can see which students are in which class.

When I realized that I knew the name well, the students were allowed to choose their place in each class.

This is what my seat and grade chart looks like. The student’s name is in a circle. Each grid is a place with a number of notes for the month. (You can find out more in the Active Embedded Assessment tutorial.)

When students come to see us in the music room, they spend time in their classrooms talking about rules and expectations.

In fact, students cannot keep a list of detailed rules and specific areas. So I’ve chosen two principles that I will look at in each class throughout the school year.

I ask the students to give some examples of how the rules can be applied in the classroom.

I rarely change folk tunes. However, there was a TK class playing”

Bounce High Bounce Low is a song worth investing in on day one! I can repeat it with movement, voice, steady beat and the mi sol la sol. This also gave me the opportunity to start naming the designs.

For this game, the whole class stands in a circle with one student in the middle throwing and catching the ball in a rhythmic rhythm. The whole class sings the first 4 beats. The student in the middle sings the last four beats and passes them to a new student in “Shilo” (substitute Shiloh for the new student’s name). The game starts again with a new student in the middle.

If the students stand up to throw a stone, I ask them to jump every time the ball hits the ground. It involves everyone. While we are sitting, I have her move one hand up and down her arm (to roll the ball).

With the students standing in a circle, I went through the class list and we played the game. Everyone has a role to play.

In second and third grade, I wanted to jump into an instrument on day one. It works with an unmodified percussion instrument – I use sticks.

After four students finished, we did section A again and the whole class continued. Have the class repeat each stroke to get everyone active, even if it makes the game longer.

In 4th and 5th grade we played like 2nd and 3rd grade. This version of the rhyme contains eighth notes followed by sixteenth notes (

Grades TK, K, 1 and 2 will all explore or learn how to move in open spaces. This is an idea that I will use again throughout the year, so I recommend it immediately.

I also want to create other opportunities for students to be creative in my class, so I look for songs that provide opportunities for creative activities.

You Walk and You Stop is one of my favorite songs to cover a space. I told the students that it was important to find a good place when we moved. Let’s go through some examples of what is a free space (where there are no other people) and what is not (click friends) before the song is played.

If I feel that the class is not ready for the movement of the athletes, we will still sing the song but the students will stay in place and dance, walk, shake, spin, etc. local.

Either way, after a few rounds of the song, the students suggest activities to add to the song.

If we have time, I’ll add Johnny Works with One Hammer. This is very valuable if the student is not ready for the movement of the athlete, because the song is very moving but happens while sitting.

Many students may already know the movement of this song when they do it at home. When we sing, they can imitate me or do a movement they already know. This was the end of the soft music of the first day.

To play the game, students stand in a circle. Instead of “Miss Mary”, the teacher called the name of another student in the circle. Students make up an action when they get to the opposite side of the circle.

This song allows students to use creative activities on the first day. I want to call two students at once, in case anyone is worried about going alone on the first day.

Maybe add phrases like “everyone likes pizza” or “everyone plays minecraft” at the end.

To play the game, students walk around the open space in section A. In section B (difficult meter), students find partners, hold hands and walk around the room together.

Then we make a change. The students say the name according to the rhythm and accompany it with the movement. At the end of each song repetition, they form a name sequence with their partner by saying their name and showing their actions twice each time. The song starts again.

In grades 3-5 we will return to the song we used at the beginning of the class. This time, I asked the students to create a body typing pattern for the B part of the game.

Many times we do this with the whole class and the students make any changes they need. Then we add part B after each game review.

The groups of students change with each round of the game, so with each repetition the students create a new rhythm.

Then I ask the students to create an octave pattern with their partner using the following rhythm building blocks:

Like Built My Lady a Fine Brick House, the group of students changes each time they repeat the song. I love this because it gives students so many opportunities to explore new combinations, body percussion, and movement.

If we’re going to do something big with music, I need big action from my students. With rebellion

I ask my students to think of ways they can do something they enjoy. This goes back to the two principles we discussed at the beginning of the class. Now, at the end of the school term, the students apply it in a way that will make the whole school year enjoyable.

At the end of class, I quickly ask the students what they hope to do with music this year, and what we need to do to make those exciting things happen.
