Sample Moving Checklist – Here I want to make an announcement, but until we get a date and finalize the timeline…I can’t, because it’s not true. My heart longs for the stuffed, sealed and stacked boxes in the family room waiting to be loaded onto the truck as my heart longs for this whole moving process to actually begin. I want to vacuum the room and start scrubbing them from top to bottom I want to walk! But since I can’t do any of those yet, I’m taking some time to work up the urge to update my move planner to a printable so I can start creating our move planner.
At first I was going to use the ones I made last time, but after looking at them and comparing them to the house hunting printables I shared last month, I realized they needed some updating first. Not that the old ones were bad, but at the time I was learning the program I used to make printables and the colors were a bit wonky and the layout needed some tweaking. And before making new move planner printables, I thought it would be good to give the old ones a much needed update.

If you want to check them out, you can still find the old ones on the Move Management Printables page. If you do, you’ll see that I haven’t changed much in the general purpose of the printable, mostly I change colors, fonts, and tweak the layouts a little so they should print well. These three printables are my must haves for planning a move last time I ran out of them and the first time I went to print them now they all got a bit of a facelift, I can’t wait to print them out and set up my move planner. I’ll share this little project later this month but for now, let’s look at the printables in progress
Moving Out For The First Time—making A Budget
This printable made it so easy to keep track of where everything (or almost everything) was on the show’s star journey during our last leg especially as we packed half the house, moved in with my parents for two months, and then packed the rest and moved. I can’t really say enough about how easy this printable made our final step for me, the funny thing is, when I first made it, I liked the idea of it, but I honestly didn’t think I would use it. Knowing myself, I thought I’d start using it with good intentions and forget about the pack mess, but that didn’t happen.
This is a really simple printable, but if you’ve been reading the blog for a while, you know that I like it simple. There are enough things when moving that creating a complicated packing list isn’t practical. Here’s how I used this printable:
If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you’ve probably seen that I’ve printed a few copies to wrap up some of our seasonal items this year.
This move planner printable is great for keeping track of all the utilities and service companies you use.

At a glance you can quickly see which company you need to contact for which steps and whether you are canceling your service, transferring your service or setting up a new account with them. The left side of each box is general information you want to keep while moving, and the right side allows you to track important information such as the date of disconnection, the date of reconnection, and any associated fees. At the bottom of the page is the total amount of space you have to pay for or plan to move
When it comes to canceling any service, double check with the company to see what their policy is on cancellation. Some companies require a certain amount of notice
When it’s time to move to your new home, there are a few things you’ll need to start packing or pack together as one of the first boxes to unload from the truck. Sometimes they’re things that can be easily overlooked during the packing and moving process, but having them on hand can make your first day or two in your new home a little easier.
Over the past nine years, we’ve moved a lot, and one thing I wanted to do differently during our last move was to remember to have certain things readily available. When you spend all day moving boxes and furniture into your new home, you need lightbulbs or start opening random boxes looking for a Band-Aid so you have to go to the store. So I made a checklist of all those things divided into sections or boxes – the last item to be packed and loaded into the truck and the first to come out and be packed.

This printable is the biggest update checklist grid I want to pack a few bags (or two if necessary) to see us for at least one day, preferably two. This way, I don’t have to start packing right away so we can get our PJs or clean socks.
And of course, a place for notes, because no matter how carefully we plan things, sometimes other things come up. Or do we need to remember something that doesn’t have a fixed place on the checklist
Whether you choose to use them or need one or two, I hope you find these move planner printables useful. Don’t forget, if you want to customize them to your liking or even better you can go to the Customized Printables page and send them to order.
Now that I’ve updated my old move planner printables, I’m excited to start working on two new ones. It’s a moving truck and if not packing and organizing stuff, it’s a small thing I can do to help with our move. And now that I’m starting to stockpile what I have, I can pack them up and move away now – even though we won’t be moving until next summer.
