One Point Lesson

One Point Lesson – Single Point Lessons are visual instructions to use to convey key points to complete a task. They are generally concise, visual, and concise in communicating process expectations that follow a standard operating procedure (SOP).

The courses are one of the highlights of lean and continuous improvement practices used by manufacturers for safety, quality, equipment operation and maintenance practices. For example, a single reference point (OPL) for asset maintenance can be created, instructions on how to use a new tool in the shop, or how to complete a tool change routine.

Below we’ll explain each of the One Point Lessons types, give some examples, and take a look at how digital versions of these tools can be useful in in-office training.

Lessons Learnt As A Communication Tool

Single-point courses usually fall into one of four types of learning courses – Basic Science, Safety, Difficulty, and Refinement. In each of these scenarios, one-stop documentation is a great practice tool that communicates standards, improvements, and concerns. They can be used to communicate change through a process, a new tool, a change in a machine, or a lean 5s program to be implemented in the workplace.

Core courses use a single point of knowledge to fill a knowledge gap so employees have the knowledge and skills they need to perform their jobs effectively and efficiently. Imagine you are doing a crossing, sprint or a world class race.

This type of single-point tutoring bridges the gap between classroom training and on-the-job training and is increasingly used in traditional training methods.

Point-based security courses focus on providing services to know and understand existing security procedures and learn new security procedures and have the knowledge they need to safely perform their duties.

This type of one-point course uses real-world scenarios to provide a point of support through visual training to help prevent problems on the factory floor. Examples might include identifying and troubleshooting malfunctions, defects, or engineering issues. Such single-point reads are most effective when the problem occurs soon after it has been applied.

Single point improvement lectures are used to illustrate new ideas and results rejected from continuous improvement projects or a Kaizen study.

Lessons should be created as a single point in digital format and managed through a central management system. Modern digital courseware, often included as part of a complete connected worker platform, provides a one-stop system for creating, managing and distributing digital versions of courses. These systems can also track whether employees have completed one-point courses. Advanced connected worker platforms using artificial intelligence (AI) can be configured to independently deliver lectures to employees on qualification, final work, or as part of a larger production workflow.

Digital OPLs can be created quickly and easily using the author’s drag and drop environment. The authoring tool provides a library of visual elements that can be combined with simple textual instructions to support optimal instruction.

What Are One Point Lessons?

The benefits of this approach are adherence to standards (everyone using the same version of management) as well as version control and change management, and identifiability for people who read (and should) read OPLs.

One-stop lessons that create digital work instructions can provide continuing education tools for operators, quality machines, and support personnel and can be used in a variety of use cases.

Use digital OPLs to standardize and optimize quality assurance and inspection procedures, resulting in fewer errors, fewer defects and rework. Digital work instructions, employee QA/QC processes, line inspections, liquid level checks, etc. Helps avoid checks involving

Digitize better safety and security issues and near miss reports. Digital checklists and safety instructions help ensure compliance and minimize impacts. Performance scorecards highlight key security KPIs and risk management.

OPLs are a useful tool to extend formal education and provide on-the-job where needed. Digitize and optimize various operating procedures such as equipment switching, start/shutdown, lock/tag, cleaning, autonomous maintenance tasks.

Improve the quality and efficiency of a wide variety of activities such as cleaning, lubrication, adjustments, inspections. Whether maintenance services are performed independently by an operator or by multiple complex routines performed by a maintenance personnel, digital work instructions ensure that the job is done correctly, reducing machine downtime.

Effective use of digital single point readings can help guide your business through optimization. Today, with the ability to provide training when needed, it is possible to concentrate on board everything the employee will likely need, and significantly reduce boarding time.
