Cricket Club Development Plan – Sussex Cricket Club is a world class cricket club and has been at the County Ground in Hove since 1872 when the pavilion was built. It has changed in various ways over the years, but there is now a plan for a four-level development that will improve the look and experience both inside and outside the grounds. The subject application seeks full planning permission for phases 1 and 2 and regulatory permission for phases 3 and 4.
The most visible change to the area will be in phase 1 with the demolition of the existing public building, a residence and a commercial building to build a high-rise mixed-use block for 40 residential units, parking on the ground floor . and in the cellar, business units and a bar / restaurant.

Phase 2 will provide, on the ground floor, a new entrance and shop connected to the existing cafe, access to new hospitality spaces and improved toilet facilities. Additional seating will be provided on the top two floors with guest spaces and a rooftop terrace.

The architectural form and character of the development and the proposed materials are intended to reflect the culture and traditional materials used in the local area, but placed within a more contemporary and sustainable context.
We regret the lack of any affordable housing in the plan. Improving the group’s finances can be seen as a social benefit, but we believe that some social housing should be included as the group already owns land.
We welcome the fact that residents of the new building will not be entitled to residential permits. We also welcome the provision of 70 cycling spaces. In terms of public transport, the buses that stop near the site do not provide regular service, but regular services are available nearby at Kerkweg.
New Plan To Build $50 Million Cricket Stadium In Buckeye
The design of the house is acceptable. A step back from the 4th floor increases your perspective. The use of white bricks gives an appropriate appearance. We are pleased that the architect has accepted the Design Committee’s recommendation that these bricks should be used for both the residential and commercial sections of the scheme. The apartments are a generous size.
The proposed building will be tall, but there are many tall buildings nearby; this new one will be taller than neighboring Ashdown, which currently appears to be taller.
The new building will be located outside the boundary of the Willett Property Conservation District. The view from the new building looking north on Selborne Road is the most significant in terms of impact on the conservation area, but it is not one that deserves the proposal.
The restoration of the original cricket ground gates is welcome, as is the ground improvement. The current full application also covers one of the proposed new proposals; we have no comment on this.

To summarize, the Regency Society believes that the size and design of the new residential building is acceptable. While we regret the lack of any affordable housing, we believe that the full planning application should be approved.
Policy Forum, made up of members of the Regency Society and Hove Civic Society hovecivicsociety.org meet monthly to discuss planning applications of importance to the Forum. Each group develops its own view of the materials and decides what action, if any, to take.

The Toombul District Cricket Club has enjoyed much success on the field, but their ground has had a more inauspicious history. The site was once known as The Junkyard due to the difficulty of maintaining materials with large scale destruction in the area. Although the times, and the environment, have changed, the name lives on in love, just like the Yard, and has passed

Cricket Club To Move As New Ground Plans Get Go Ahead
There are problems getting updates up and running, especially as the site is surrounded by roads and therefore not expandable. With support from Queensland Cricket and Brisbane City Council, the CPR Team has worked to develop a new plan and project implementation plan for the facility’s improvements. Through consultation with members and the Toombul Cricket community, the CPR team put together the plan to develop a feasible plan that will support the future of cricket in Toombul.
The project includes an implementation plan that includes activities and, more importantly, funding sources. The CPR team will continue to help the club engage with Cricket Queensland and elected officials to secure support and determine funding sources to help Toombul Cricket Club take this project forward.
