The Best Dnd Character Sheets
The ReactJS component that renders the Dungeons & Dragons character sheet, namely the character stats sheet, character profile sheet, and spell sheet.
The attributes in the example can be populated on a web page and print fine, so you can fill in multiple attributes on the page and print the sheet. Characters can also be exported to JSON files and imported from JSON files.
Each component can be controlled or not controlled. Both character and onCharacterChanged must be specified (controlled) or defaultCharacter must be specified.

As with any project, I decided to create a custom character sheet to learn a new skill. In this case, I want to practice illustration. I started by tracing the sections of the official sheet and just playing around with their size and position. The official sheet works on three-column pages, but I quickly found a way to save space with four-column pages.

When things get serious, I focus on what I can take from the official newspapers. I’ve removed most things from the second page of the official sheet, all the RPG information – backstory, description, faction information – things that could all be covered in a separate report about your character. This leaves a lot of real estate empty.
Next, I have to make sure each section has enough space to be useful. The feature I’m after is to keep everything you need in battle or that you need to refer to frequently on the front page and downgrade everything else to the second page. By moving gear, talents and traits, ties, and the rest to the second side, I was able to assign a mapping to each big side, allowing you to actually enter high-level character information.
However, my priorities have changed several times. For a while I thought the Bonds section was just a genre of RPG, but a guy on Reddit pointed out that the Bonds section is something unique to D&D 5e that sets it apart from other games. I’ve chosen to keep the Bonds section to preserve the game. I’m also considering whether to include a character portrait or not – it just takes up too much space, although I like having a character portrait.
One thing I’d just add to the user’s request is the spell sheet – pages three and four. I don’t want to do the magic part because the official newspapers are already doing a good job there. I still think my magic part is the less elegant copy compared to the official sheet, but its inclusion completes the character sheet into a more complete functional document.
