Billing Statements – According to the same source, patient payment is the biggest concern dentists have regarding their organization. It outperformed acquisition patients by 8%.
In fact, 3 of the top 5 concerns dentists had were related to their organization’s cash flow.

According to Humana, the costs of dental procedures vary by procedure. For example, a basic cleaning costs between $75 and $200. Meanwhile, more intensive dental procedures, such as a molar root canal, can total up to $1,500.

Now, let’s move on to the patient landscape. After all, the cost of dental services should not be an issue if most patients have insurance plans that cover most procedures. However, nearly 20% of dental patients are self-pay, meaning they pay for their dental services out of pocket.
Bad from an industry level. They usually shop around for their healthcare to find the procedure costs that work best for them.
The problem, however, is the current financial situation of consumers. As it stands today, 60% of US households cannot afford an unexpected expense of more than $1,000.
It seems things are starting to get a little complicated. Let me throw another key into the equation.
Understanding Your Ebill
Well, patient payment starts with the billing statement. If your ads fail when they get into the hands of your patients, your chances of getting paid decrease significantly.
Before we can even begin to understand what the perfect dental billing statement looks like to increase your revenue, we need to consider your patient correspondence experience.
The truth is, your patient doesn’t wake up every day thinking about the statement you sent in the mail. You can from an organizational standpoint because it directly affects your bottom line, but it definitely doesn’t.
Your patients go about their busy working day just like the rest of us. When they get home, they check their mailbox, grab a big pile of envelopes, and spend the evening relaxing or dropping off their kids for extracurricular activities.
Bill Format Options
Although 41% of Americans look forward to checking their email every day, most people have negative feelings about receiving bills and letters from postal organizations. I don’t blame them.
The standard cover for financial documents is double window cover No. 10. The main purpose of Windows is to easily provide the sender and return address. However, they also offer you an opportunity.
The only difference is that the practice address window includes a company logo.
A small change like that will make it much easier for patients to notice that you sent them something in the mail. That way, your patients are less likely to ignore the bill you send in the large amount of mail you receive.
Pay Your Bill
At this point, we haven’t even opened the cover to see what’s inside. Let’s go ahead and do it.
The truth is that by using the double window and zooming in on your patient, you will notice that you have sent them a notification. But that is only part of the answer.
If they open their envelope only to find a poorly designed statement that’s hard to understand, they won’t waste any more of their time trying to figure out how to pay you.
Yes, patients you send statements to have an outstanding balance. However, if they can’t figure out that balance within the first two seconds of looking at their account, they’ll move on.
The Anatomy Of Engaging Billing Statements
Let’s do the same exercise as in the previous article. Which of the two calculated statements above would your eyes naturally look at?
Although the account on the left uses the double window trick that I mentioned in the previous article, it is difficult to read, especially when it comes to figuring out how to pay the balance.
Although the example on the right screams at you visually. At a glance, you immediately know the balance of the debt and how to pay.
A branded visual hierarchy helps your patients understand what they owe you and how to pay you.
Daily Billing Statement
Now that you have a well-designed dental billing statement that reflects your practice and is easy to visualize, the next aspect you need to worry about is payment.
For the sake of the point I will make in this article, I am going to assume that your practice accepts modern forms of digital payments. After all, almost 80% of all patients want to pay their statements electronically.
See, 40% of US consumers still pay their bills by check. So you want to make sure your patients will still be able to pay you their balance when they get their statement.
A transfer or payment is the refundable portion of a billing statement that recipients can use to select a payment method and mail you back.

All the templates I provide you throughout this blog post use translations as they are a standard feature of invoicing.
First, they don’t isolate your payment options. Delivery means pre-paid returns cover is included in your delivery. Second, they further assist your efforts to collect from patients as soon as possible.
The idea is for your patients to receive their bill statement, choose their payment option on transfer, and then send it back to you in a pre-paid envelope.
They continue your efforts to make it as convenient as possible for your patients to pay you when they receive their bill in the mail.
Free Invoice Templates
Your billing statement allows you to communicate with your patients without telling them how much they owe you.
In the financial world, emails are sent to customers to inform them of the status of their balance. They are like another cousin of debt validation letters. The same energy.
In this template, look at the text box above the data table. That little box is the dunning message part of the ad I’m referring to in this article.
Including it in the bills you send to your patients is another small feature that makes a big impact. If you want to adhere to the dunning message definition, you can provide your customers with updates on the status of their accounts.

However, you can use push messages as a way to promote upcoming events or encourage online payment registration.
Remember in this blog post when I broke down the cash flow problem that many dentists face?
Unfortunately, healthcare costs around the world are rising. That’s bad news, given some of the statistics I gave you earlier.
While it would be great if you had 100% control over the costs associated with the services you provide, this is not the case. And what are you doing?
Administrator Billing …
Just because the cost of your services is increasing on average doesn’t mean you can’t find creative ways to make your services more affordable.
On the patient’s side, it gives them the ability to pay you their balance using money they have available.
Pay-as-you-go plans allow you to more easily forecast your income and collect from accounts you wouldn’t otherwise pay.
The next template has a transition, but it’s at the bottom instead of the top like the others.
Accounts And Billing
It provides a simple step-by-step payment plan signing process that recipients can use and then send to you.
At the end of this blog, you may have noticed how my recommendations focus on the details of your dental billing statement templates.
The reality is that those little details make a big difference when collecting from your patients.
You may not include that data in the ads you’re currently sending. So you’re missing out on a huge opportunity to improve your practice’s billing to make it easier to close outstanding balances.
