A master chart is your compass. Your North Star. It’s a map of where your customer is today, where they want to be tomorrow, and how you’re going to get there.
The best time to start planning your master account is at the beginning of the year. Your customers are fresh from the holidays and full of resolutions to make this year different. So strike while the iron is hot and the motivation to change is high.
Connection power. I like to add an assessment to remind myself if my partnership with a client is solid or shaky. Choose your values (eg bad, good, great).
Plan period. This is important. You can conclude that it is annual. It doesn’t have to be that way. I can be quarterly or semi-annually. It often makes sense to link your account plan to the business review cycle.

An easy way to do this is Kurt Lewin’s force field analysis based on Newton’s law of gravity, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. In other words, the benefits of action must outweigh the risks of inaction.
Then write all the positive and negative consequences of your action under each one. Set a strong score and add them.
If it is greater than zero, your account has a good chance of success. If it’s zero or less, your plan may fail.

Then you may find that you have a goal that is not achievable in its current form. Take a different path and find new ways to increase the number of reasons why change is good.
Or you may need to put it in the basket very hard and come back later.
Well, this is the fun part. It’s time to put your master account plan into action and make it a reality.
